Did you know that the Torrey Pine tree is one of the oldest trees on earth, and that San Diego is one of the only places that it grows? In this workshop, you will use local Torrey Pine needles to create your very own basket! Learn the ancient skills of coiled basket weaving, including preparation of materials, weaving techniques, and shaping/finishing techniques. Learn how to create a basket with a sense of place and involvement with local nature. Creativity is encouraged and everyone will leave the class with their own handmade basket!
Please bring your own lunch or be prepared to purchase a lunch nearby at Liberty Station. No experience necessary and all materials are provided.
