<p>Premise: Four siblings live with their mother in a small apartment in Tokyo. All the children have different fathers and none of them have ever been to school. In fact, the very existence of three of the children has been hidden from the landlord. One day, the mother leaves behind a note, asking her twelve-year-old boy (Yagira Yuya, winner of the Best Actor Award at Cannes) to look after the others. Though abandoned, the children do their best to survive. But when they are forced to engage with the outside world, the fragile balance that has sustained them collapses. Written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda (<em>After Life, Maborosi</em>).</p>
<p><em>This film is Rated PG-13 by the MPAA. Running time 138 minutes. Fully subtitled. </em></p>

<p>Tonight from 8pm-Midnight, the <a href="http://www.sdaff.org" target="_blank">San Diego Asian Film Foundation</a> is hosting a fundraiser for victims of the tsunami disaster at <a href="http://www.thinroom.com/home.html" target="_blank">Thin Room </a>(852 Fifth Avenue, Gaslamp Quarter).</p>
<p>Join them for a night of films from Thailand and India, along with local news clips. Plus, food donated by China Camp, Emerald Seafood &amp; Pearl Restaurant, Festivities Catering, Jasmine, O&#8217;Hungry&#8217;s, Saffron, and Star of India. Skyy Vodka drink specials.</p>
<p>Special Guest: Brandon Behle, local San Diegan who escaped the tsunami in Ko Phi Phi, Thailand. Brandon will be sharing his story at the fundraiser. </p>
<p>Lee Ann Kim, TV anchor/reporter for Channel 10, and the founding executive director of SDAFF will also be attending.</p>
<p>Open to the public, 21+.<br />
Minimum $25 donation to Direct Relief International</p>
<p>Learn more about the cultures of the regions devastated by tsunamis while helping to save lives through your donation. All proceeds will be donated to Direct Relief International, a humanitarian aid organization recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the top U.S. charities in 2005. Direct Relief International passes on 99% of all donations directly to aid the victims.</p>
<p>The fundraiserâ€™s feature presentation will be <a href="http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/ong_bak-tlr.html/" target="_blank">Ong Bak: Muay Thai Warrior</a>, a feature-length film from Thailand. Also scheduled to screen are two short documentaries by local filmmakers: Pyramid of Women by Cheryl Kanekar (India) and Ma-Nang by Dawn Poomee (Thailand). </p>
