I have lived directly across the street from OLP for 17 years. I teach high school and thought I had a pretty good idea of what it would be like living across from a high school. So I knew there would be traffic and teen-aged girls doing teenage things, however in the 17 years OLP has added a gym, 110 students, and 15 teachers. This means a lot more traffic and people in my neighborhood and not just during the school day. OLP has something going on often in the evenings and weekends (basketball, volleyball games, weddings, reunions, parents nights, fund raisers, women's conferences, Spring Musical etc.). The additions have made a very negative impact on the neighborhood.

I know my neighborhood comes out looking very harsh and uncaring with the decision. We tried to work with OLP, but their arrogance and sense of entitlement forced us to push for the CUP ruling.

OLP wants to tear down three homes on either side of them and build a 33,000 square foot, two story building and a parking garage. They do not care about the neighborhood or their neighbors. This expansion would damage the integrity of our historic neighborhood.

We are good neighbors who want to keep OLP in the neighborhood, but we do not want our neighborhood to be taken over by them.

Hey,
I'm visiting from Seattle where this weekend has a huge arts celebration called "Bumbershoot" (translation: umbrella). I'd be surprised to see if this area does not support a similar type event. Does anyone know of one? Thanks
