San Diego’s most beloved public park, Balboa Park, hosted the 18th annual EarthFair on Sunday, April 22nd. Over 60,000 green residents joined together to celebrate the environment, share eco-friendly tips, and learn about major global environment issues, as well as local San Diego environment issues.

EarthFair is always a great festival in Balboa Park; but this year was especially fun and informative. A few of my favorite features were: the global warming platform discussions, organic food booths, and the parade of eco-friendly cars—like the Canadian ZEN zero-emission electric car. Another great aspect was the swarm of bikers continuously coming and going throughout the fair. To avoid pollution and parking, many-many locals rode their bikes—it was quite a sight to see.

Another notable Earth Day celebration in San Diego is UCSD’s Earth Week program. From April 16 to April 20, UCSD emphasized different climate solutions each day of the week.

I just found out about the EARTH Awards in San Diego—anybody ever been?

Let’s keep it ever-green San Diego! Hope you guys went—EarthFair is such a great San Diego event. Anybody learn any cool eco-friendly-tricks to share?

Hey ! Just to update on earthday, first off it was goodtimes with the diversity of people. Earthday has really become a great holiday for us san diegans. From the educational fair and exhibits to the love music and reggae at the wrold beat center. I was manning a booth at the Draft Gore both, and it was incredible to talk to so many people about drafting Al Gore to run for president. We collected over 700 signatures, pretty good for a little booth tucked away near the art muesuem. It’s amazing to hear how san diegans passionately care about the environment our current state of leadership, and their ideas for solutions. Great time down at the park… wish we did it twice as much !

I just Googled San Diego Going Green and found this great portal that is talking about Earth Day. I just marked this on my calendar and am thrilled to attend. I am working on my EcoBroker Certificate for green homes in San Diego and this is so cool. I live here and didn’t even know about this.

    Have a nice Easter.
