Rocket Rockin the Casbah on Friday

All-girl pop punkband Rocket is playing a show February 2nd at The Casbah.

Looks like a fun show.  According to the press release, the band mixes 60s girl group innocence with 70s decibel damaging Sunset Boulevard beat and 80s glam wham…  I checked out the website, and their sound kinda reminds me of a modern version of the GoGos.  Fun stuff.

I won’t be attending…  I will, as with every first Friday of the month, be at The Grove (30th and Juniper) for First Fridays open mic sponsored by San Diego Writers, Ink. Usually hosted by newly published author Amy Wallen (MoonpPes and Movie Stars) this month’s showcase of local prose writers will be hosted by Eber Lambert. He may not be so strict with the timer…  I hope.
