Back in 2004 I wrote a short piece explaining what the Stingaree was, basically it was San Diego’s red-light district in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Come to find out that the Stingaree is back as the name of a nightclub down on 4th Avenue. Everything old is new again!

Seems that they want to take the model elsewhere: this is from the uptown planners adgenda for tomorows (8/1) meeting

STINGAREE RESTAURANT/LOUNGE – Hillcrest – informational presentation about a proposed new restaurant and lounge to be located on the corner of University Avenue and Vermont Avenue. Project will consist of restaurant and upscale lounge with piano bar and down tempo music. An agreement has been signed with the Uptown Shopping Center to lease 30 underground parking spaces for use by guests.
