San Diego moblog company textamerica has a heckuva PR problem.

I bet they could figure out how to put those old blogs back, and make them pay, and not be such unilateral jerks about it all. Yes, it costs money to host images and websites and be a conduit for mobile content, but they could so fix this with some contextual ads, some graded user fees, and be overall nicer about allowing people to leave the service.

I’ve been following textamerica for a while, the Chargers have a moblog, and they put one up for the fires in 2003, the SDUT uses them and there are a bunch listed on sandiegobloggers.com.

Sad. I wonder if any of those will get killed.
My plan for them would be to ape livejournal. Go to a free model for a limited number of uploads, a cheap “sponsored” model where you get subjected to ads on your pages, and a pro account (a la flickr) to get unlimited functionality. I can just sense the investors wanting to extract dough from the site, but this kind of holocaust is going to kill any word of mouth that was there to begin with. Hey textamerica! Hire me as a consultant!
