Allow Me to Introduce Myself…

My name is John, and I’m a new contributor to San Diego Blog.

When I registered last Friday, Joe sent me an email asking who I was and why I wanted to blog at San Diego Blog. The uber-boring answer to why I want to contribute is that I love to write and I live in San Marcos - the basic prerequisites. I also told him that I am trying to be more aware of San Diego County’s goings-on and I figure that obligating myself to write about it is a sure-fire way to get into the loop. I guess I’ll call it forced consciousness.

But who am I?

According to the email I sent to Joe, I am a 31-year-old singer/songwriter. This means that I work for my in-laws so I can support my desire to dwell in the North County coffee shop circuit. In fact, I used to play quite a bit at Miracles Café back when Oso worked there, before they tore it down. (Shame!)

Gigging is a stark contrast to my regular job as a soulless, fluorescent-lit, cubicle-dwelling comptroller. My job does, however, give me lots of writing time since I work for my in-laws and can therefore be totally irresponsible with my time management because they’ll pay me anyway.

I’ve also got a wife, two kids, a dog, a cat, and two mortgages. (Free help with any or all of those would be thoroughly appreciated. Why free? Two. Mortgages.)

Even after all that, Joe emailed me with ‘Welcome aboard’.

Thanks, Joe. I’m looking forward to it. And I’ll try not to muck it up by being too much of a newbie.
