I know that Oceanside closed schools for fear the protests would get out of hand this Cesar Chavez day… as to seriousness, who knows?

San Diego County area school walkouts are being reported on the cable news networks.

A 6,000 strong march of mostly students culminated a week of student walkouts. The march went through barrio logan and sherman heights. Many bystanders showed support, standing on their porches or on top of buildings, waving mexican flags. Lots of people from the community joined the march as it went by.

Students walked out of high schools all over San Diego and as the marches arrived at Chicano Park, the crowd roared. Some students simply didn’t go to school. SDSU, City College and UCSD students were in attendance as well.

At the time of writing, the march was continuing through downtown, with up to a thousand protesters rallying in front of City College.

There were 3 girls from Hoover high arrested early in the morning, and 3 more arrests were made at 25th and Imperial.

The huge march stopped for a short rally on 25th and Market before marching down the hill into downtown.

Students at the march were discussing the possibility that the protests may continue next week.

those walk outs were a reaction to monkey gw bush’s agreement with some of the initiatives proposed in the immigration bill. if it is passed, which is highly likely, he will sign it and it will be screwed up. immigrants have lives here, they are almost stuck here. they financed houses, cars, and whatever else.(this will be a nightmare for finance companies unless they workout more stringent guidlines mexican business and government). Children born in raised here will problem have 2 go back or be parentless due to the status of there elders. this is wrong. i think amnesty must be granted to everybody then u can start regulating the border and people attempting to enter illegally. they know that this measure will break families up.

It seems to be an act of students who have heard only one side of the story and have not done the research. Some may be legitiment jr. political activist, but the majority have found a great excuse to get out of school.

As for our “monkey president”, He is actually making more opportunities for illegal imigrants already stateside to be come naturalized citizens.

I think that its right that us students are walking out of school for what we believe in. What i know is that i sure want my people (mexicans) to get the rigt to stay here. Some people dont even work for 5,6,7 dollars an hour but, we sure damn do. How bout all the troops that are in Iraq why dont they come home and leave w/ their parents who are illegals and who’s going to fight the war how bout that!!! I know that we are fighting for our own rights!!! If there’s a walk out at my school im definitely going to be part of it!!! On monday april 10. 2006 high schools and middle schools walked out!!! I support them 110%!!! Now I know there planning to do it in my school and im w/ who ever is going to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is just dumb because most hispanic students and people are walking out of school to protest and show that we really do know what is going on in the world with immigration. we know wat is going on! i was at the walk out myself and i didnt do it for me. i was born here. but i dont care my parents my friends my family is from mexico. Im doing it for them!!!!! We cant do anything anymore peacefully cuz know everyone is going to be upset, scard and disipointed on what would happen if those stupid laws do pass. and not only are mexicans are doing it. most puerto ricans, and other types of races are out there too. so stop focusing on the mexicans. we are not here by ourselves. well do anything it takes in order for us to get our point across.

I am a white single woman with half hispanic kids.I am sick of the bitching by all races whites included.It was published that whites here are now minority,OK wheres my Grant to go to school wheres my help??You hispanics and blacks get everything handed to you on a silver platter and then what you bitch more.I have no grant I come from a poor family and I have worked my ass off to pay for my schooling.And to stay off welfare and provide for my children..I applied for assitence once in my life and it took me 3 months to get help…While your out having baby after baby and I am paying for it.We have no BET no Tejano Channel..But I tell you one thing If we decided to Make A WET You all would be on us like flies on shit..descrimination descrimination you would cry….Shut up Grow up…Deal with American laws Or go home that simple.You have laws changing for you everyday…So why cant they change for us?
