San Diego Blogger Events: January 16 2006

January 16th is the date of a two-part San Diego Blogger fest! There have been some meetups before, but none that will be as cool and successful as this one. I estimate a dozen or three folks will show up, but I’m hoping it could be much more. Any ideas folks have to goad or shame San Diego Bloggers into showing up for real are welcome.

Part I: The Living Room: near SDSU: 12noon-2pm. We want to do this part as a semi-formal/formal “panel” format with Q&A about various blogging issues: blog tools, pay-per-click ad revenue, setting limits on what you share and don’t, and other scintilating issues. Please email blogger@angecom.com if you have any suggested topics or any speakers you’d like to invite, or if you yourself would like to speak. I know we got some folks in the last thread.

Part II: Rockbottom Brewery in La Jolla: 7pm-10p (approx) - is good old fashioned chilling out and socializing with your fellow bloggers. Yes, this is a bar, and they serve good beer.

Cost for each: nothing, though we are interested in perhaps having parting gifts or the like. If anyone has ideas for things like door prizes or raffles or knows of folks interested in providing giveaways please speak out in the comments!

I write a random blog about almost anything I happen to see, hear, or wonder about. I’ve also included a story about a fellow from WWII. There are other items in there as well. I haven’t done any blogs on San Diego. Is that a necessary evil to join this blog?

Liar liar, pants on fire. I went to my blog site and forgot that I’d done quite a rant on the new mayor. I also added some things. So, you’ll have to pardon an old man’s memory.

Both events sound good to me! There is a lot I can learn about blogging from other people who are better at the networking aspects of it than me.

I’m having my tonsils out and deviated septum fixed on the 12th so I’ll be the creepy quiet guy with black eyes and a vicodin smile. Though I’m working on a website for local bloggers so I might have pamphlets.

I’ll be there for Part I - and Part II if the wife cuts me a break. Aussie-born, I hear the beer calling…

I wonder if I’ll run into any of the old SDC clan - I was on as Mate. I broke hearts through the group by catching and marrying Sinamon. Old SDC’ers can contact me through my website.

Expect me to issue a call to bloggers about the recent San Diego Chargers stadium news. If you love San Diego and at least tolerate football, it would be a good idea to post your views on your own site. You don’t have to agree with my views, but if we’re trying to generate a community of San Diego bloggers, how about writing about the things that affect our IRL community?
