Navy putting Navy Broadway Complex up for lease

Mack Reed of the estimable LA Voice sent me this the other day, and I’m just now getting up to speed:

I stumbled across this in today’s L.A. Times and thought of you. … the Navy’s opening up a section of the waterfront to development.

I transcribed a bit of this tiny display ad from the Times:

“The Navy has issued an RFP for the lease of approximately 14 acres known as the “Navy Broadway Complex” located on North Harbor Drive facing the downtown San Diego waterfront. Through special legislation, the Navy intends to offer this premiere, downtown land for long-term lease to a qualified developer or development team (yadda yadda yadda) Proposals will be due Jan. 4, 2006.

It then claims the solicitation (the specific RFP, I’m guessing) is available here as Solicitation # N6247306RP06X01: http://esol.navfac.navy.mil/

Thanks Mack! I and San Diego appreciate it big time! I found it at http://esol.navfac.navy.mil/CookieCode/SolCookiePub.cfm?Sol_Num=N62473-06-RP-06X01:

Full solicitation after the jump:

The National Defense Authorization Act of 1987, Section 2732 of Public Law 99-661 authorizes the Secretary of the Navy to enter into a long-term lease of real property located within the Broadway Complex of the Department of the Navy, San Diego, California. In connection with this project, Navy has initiated actions required under the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Preservation Act.
