San Diego Blog would like to extend its condolences to the city of New York for losing the bid for the 2012 Olympic Games. I’m sure you’ve heard by now that London won the vote and will be hosting the Summer Games seven years from now. What’s interesting is the fact that New York apparently will not submit a bid for the ‘16 Olympics; however, according to this article in NY Newsday, San Diego might:

Theoretically, New York would be the early leader in the clubhouse against a long list of cities that, in varying degrees of seriousness, have expressed interest in bidding for 2016.

Among them are Busan, South Korea; Delhi, India; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Hamburg, Germany; Sapporo or Fukuoka, Japan; a San Diego-Tijuana, Mexico, joint venture; and Tel Aviv.

Moscow last night announced its intention to reload for 2016.

Of course, that’s assuming the city could figure out a way to build a place for the Olympic flame without two dozen lawsuits being filed.

Why is there no blog entry about the huge mayoral elections coming up?

    My opinion is simple,

San Diego needs help, Mayor Murphy has been running the city into the ground and finally San Diego has the opportunity to replace him with someone who can re-energize the economy Murphy destroyed and clean up the corruption that Murphy practiced. Below is the campaign email people are sending around. If Donna Fry can win during this July Election with more than fifty percent of voters support the city can avoid a run-off election next november and will give the city a head-start in fixing the economy that Murphy destroyed. Please forward this to anyone you know who can legally vote in the San Diego Elections. Thank You!

As you may know, there will be a Special Election for the Mayor of San Diego on July 26th. I am writing today to encourage you to pledge your vote for Donna Frye for Mayor.

I support Donna because I know that she is the only candidate to bring real change to City Hall. More importantly, I trust her because she has a proven record of standing up to the status quo and making tough decisions for the public good.

Her straight-talk style proves that she is not a typical politician. She has a solid plan to fix the pension mess, balance the budget, restructure the City and protect our quality of life. We must elect Donna Frye as Mayor if we truly want ethical, effective leadership for our City.

Join me in supporting Donna by clicking on this link: https://www.completecampaigns.com/public.asp?name=V-Frye&page=1 . By pledging your vote today, you will make sure that Donna becomes Mayor in July!! We will also save her campaign time and money by identifying her supporters now.

Please visit her website at http://www.DonnaFryeForMayor.com to learn more about her campaign. If we all forward this email to our friends, family and neighbors…we can elect Donna Mayor in July and work together to restore our City’s good name!

Olympic bids cost taxpayers millions of dollars. There is no way our politicans should spent a dime courting an Olympic bid. If NYC and Paris can’t get it, there is no chance that San Diego will. We need to clean our own house before we invite the world in. And that could take a decade.
