Caffeinated San Diego

A year or so ago, developers decided to tear down the taco stand at the corner of 28th & B in Golden Hill. In its place, they built a nice faux-adobe building which has stood empty for the last few months, a For Lease sign in the window. More than once, my wife and I would drive by and take guesses at what would end up there. I wanted affordable sushi; my wife wanted a Starbucks.

My wife won.

Last week, the For Lease sign came out of the window and a banner was unfurled across the roofline proclaiming the imminent arrival of yet another Starbies.

If you’re keeping score at home, this makes 141 Starbucks within a 20-mile radius of the 92101 (downtown) zipcode.

I guess this guy will have to make another trip to San Diego.

Call me retarded, but I kept looking at the page going, “Who’s wife? Where’s the author byline? I swear it’s here somewhere…”

I didn’t realize that author info is on the home page but not on the individual post pages, since at home I’d usually surf to sandiegoblog in a browser, whereas at work I’ve been landing right on the post pages from within bloglines.

Ditto Al’s comment, although I can generally tell an SoT post from miles away.

    I hope that’s a good thing, Derek.

And I haven’t a clue as to how to make it clear. I’ll leave that to Joe and the technical experts behind the scenes.

I’ll see what I can do to add author information to the various feeds.
