Finding Local Blogs

According to San Diego Bloggers there are well over 300 blogs in the San Diego area. Blogdigger is a Weblog search engine that has a local search feature that helps you find blogs by geographic location. FeedMap enables you to search and browse blogs by location. You can geo-code your blog and enter it, and then get a “BlogMap” to put on your site. Here is a local San Diego blogroll created by FeedMap.

Maybe you should mention, for those with Flickr accounts, the San Diego Flickr Group… oh wait, I just did.

Nifty tool. I’ve used that to find blogs here in Simi Valley, which worked okay — but I could not get it to recognize my own blog. Is there a trick?

Blogdigger uses a number of methods to identify a site’s location. The best way is to support the ICBM or geoPosition meta data specification which defines your site’s latitude/longitude as an HTML metatag. More information can be found at GeoURL, and information on finding your latitude/longitude can be found here.

Yeah, I have those on http://artlung.com/blog/

I’ll have to try again.

It’s sparse, but certainly is ready to rock and roll if people add themselves.
