On Monday, May 2 at 11am, there will be a City Council hearing to decide whether the upcoming mayoral vacancy shall be filled by political appointment or by a special election. It is critical that the public participate by attending this hearing. Tell your elected officials that the public has a right to vote, and the people, not the politicians, should decide.

THERE ARE MANY WAYS FOR YOU TO PARTICIPATE:

- Attend the City Council meeting on Monday at 11am and speak at the meeting. The City Council meets at 202 C St. on the 12th floor. Fill out a speaker slip which is available at the meeting. Each speaker has three minutes to provide public testimony.

- If you would like to attend the meeting as a show of public support for a special election, but do not wish to speak, you may fill out a speaker slip that is provided at the meeting. Simply check the appropriate box indicating that you do not wish to speak.

- If you cannot attend the meeting, please send an e-mail, fax, or call the Mayor and City Councilmembers. All contact information is provided below for your convenience.

- Please share this e-mail with your family and friends and ask them to support our democratic process.
