Our northerly neighboors made the trip down I-5 to grace San Diego with their presence this week. It turns out, the television show JAG was doing some filming out on Coronado. It was a full, on-location filming; placing the cast and crew in San Diego for the better part of three days. To my own surprise, Paramount was in need of “real military men and women” to aid in filming their Coronado segment. Now I’m no real military man, but I am, however, a former military man. So I made the trip across the bridge and rubbed elbows with the stars for the day. Catherine Bell and David James Elliott were on set, as well as two newcomers I didn’t recognize. On Tuesday, Paramount shot over a half dozen scenes utilizing the Coronado beach and flightline, as well as the Officer’s club. It was a good , but long, day to say the least. Filming went on for roughly sixteen hours. I did, however, get the brief chance to hang out with Catherine Bell while hob-nobbing with the JAG military technical advisor Matt Sigloch; and I must say, the camera does add ten pounds. From what I could gather, JAG will be doing a bit more filming today, then heading back to Hollywood on Thursday.

Nice. Don’t forget about the little people when all the casting directors start calling!
I’ve never seen JAG before, but it sounds like some of it is based in Coronado. From a JAG fan site:

Yeah, I’m in the same boat, I don’t watch it much but it doesn’t surprise me that some of it takes place down here. From what I gathered on Tuesday, the grand majority of their filming is done in the Valencia area.
And as far as the casting directors are concerned, beleive it or not, through some networking Tuesday I ended up landing a gig today on Point Pleasant. I ended up playing a rent-a-cop. I’m not going to the big screen any time soon, but at least I’m getting some money coming in!
