Revealing the potential of every weblog, Brandon Behle is now safe in Bangkok where he wrote yesterday:

After arriving in Bangkok on the night train from Surat Thani, I ran the the American Embassy and then to the nearest internet cafe to realize that I not only had 35 Emails in my hotmail account, but I had 63 NEW MESSAGES on my web site, and I had been featured on the NEWS in SAN DIEGO! And not only that, but one of my fraternity brothers had gone above and beyond to get me in contact with the SISTER of the PRIME MINISTER of THAILAND!

I sit here and find it hard to put into words the amazing display of deep human compassion that has been expressed to me from People from back home, from school, here in Bangkok, and on the Island of Koh Phi-Phi. Never in my life have I EVER seen so many people so concerned about my safety and so eager to help out.

The PEOPLE of Asia and INDIA NEED YOUR HELP! PLEASE donate, whatever you can to the Red Cross; look on the web to see other people who need help or funding and give whatever you can! Give Blood if this needed. Just do WHATEVER you can!

PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!!!!

Google has put together a comprehensive list of links for information about donating and the relief effort. There is also a list of Charity Efficiency and Transparency Ratings. All this week I will be donating the tips I make from the cafe I work at to the American Red Cross via Amazon’s easy donation page. So far $5,460,650.87 has been collected from 87,805 donors (or payments really). This morning I threw down $25 and it took literally 5 seconds.

If you have donated to a relief organization, please don’t be shy; tell us how much you donated and to what organization and why you chose them. The more people see their fellow community members giving, the more they are encouraged to give themselves.
