Prior to the election, a post here on SanDiegoBlog speculated that San Diego might be becoming more liberal. Now that the election is over, let’s compare the results of the last two Presidential elections for San Diego County.

2000 Results
Bush 49.63%
Gore 45.66%
Nader 3.54%
2004 Results
Bush 52.34%
Kerry 46.23%

It appears that although Kerry received slightly more support than Gore, the conservative vote increased by 2.71%. When adding Gore plus Nader (49.2%) in 2000, it appears the liberal vote actually declined by 2.97% in 2004. Based off the results of this one election and a 4 year time period, San Diego is not becoming more liberal.
