Yesterday afternoon the following San Diego bloggers met at the Lamplighter bar in Mission Hills at 1 p.m. and then we migrated over to The Gathering for a little more light and a more comfortable place to talk.
Freelance writer Kinsee Morlan also graced our presence. It was a decent turnout and in all honesty, a single table conversation would’ve probably been impossible with more, but still, I was hoping for (expecting) more local bloggers to show up. There was obviously a big gender imbalance and I hope for the next meetup some more of the female bloggers represent. The following San Diego bloggers had wanted to show up, but were not able to make it:
I’m listing these links not to exclude others, but because it seems like a sense of community is starting to form and I want to encourage it and I want to encourage others to become part of it by commenting on San Diego Blog and commenting on each others’ weblogs.
Alex pointed out that the next time we meet it should be at a cafe and not at a bar so as not to exclude anyone under 21. I think the highlight for most of us is that we finally met in person bloggers whose thoughts, stories, and rants we have been reading for months or longer.
Inevitably the conversation often turned to shop talk (blog talk?) as we traded tips, secrets, and tools which we use while blogging, reading blogs, and podcasting. Steve Holden has proposed that we put together a mini, local BloggerCon early next year to do exactly that.
One of the sadder moments of the conversation was when Joe announced he will soon be removing himself from the list (he maintains) of San Diego Bloggers. We would like to congratulate Joe and Leah on their upcoming marriage and wish them the very best in Los Angeles. Joe will continue to be an active part of San Diego Blog, but I think by default, I have been bumped into more of a leadership role in ensuring we keep writing about “Real San Diego (almost) Daily.”
In more uplifting news, MAS has announced he will resume contributing on SDBlog. MAS has written a number of posts here about San Diego and we’re glad he’s coming back to offer more insight.
I know many of you are cynical about what a bunch of bloggers could possibly accomplish by getting together and writing about their community, but look what is happening in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Also, would like to congratulate local blogger and podcaster Derrick Oien who is newly the proud father of triplets.

Hey thanks for the kind thoughts. I would love to help out with any future San Diego blogger get together. I think its really important to meet other bloggers face to face.

Can anyone tell me whatever happened to Joe Lizura, the meteorologist on channel 7? I contacted the station and they gave me the runaround.

Alan Ziter Executive Director of NTC is out of control. His drug use and abusive behavior towards employees and people who dont agree with him is frightening.
How he is able to keep his job is beyond me. He is a menace to the community. I suppose the Powerhouse Mcmillin Company has enough money invested in him and covering his track that others are in fear of being taken out of the money circle.
With all his drug and alcohol problems I am concerned with the children attending the schools that are on the campus of NTC Project.
He should be ashamed.

When I worked with alan ziter he shared drugs with me at work. He actually thought we were getting away with no one knowing.
Then he became so abusive, Bitter hateful and vengeful. I became in fear for my life at time.
He flys off at the handle and really is on the verge of out of control. He should step down and enter rehab before someone gets hurt. Its scary. He has a problem I am seeking help for mine.
