Well, in news sure to make the electorate more disaffected and depressed, it turns out that Donna Frye actually did get more votes. Of course, for the write in votes, one was supposed to not just “write in” the vote, one is supposed to also fill in the bubble.
The SDUT has the story.
I think the technology got in the way of the election. Some news outlets have called San Diego “Enron By The Sea” for our financial problems. Maybe we’re also “Florida by the Sea” for our election nonsense. Or is that redundant? Maybe it should be “Florida West.”

Whoever conducted the elections (Registrar? County Recorder?) this time around needs to be fired. What a mess.

No one payed any attention because they didn’t think there was a chance in hell
she would win. They thought she was a joke. Now it has retured to bite them
in the ass. The main problem I have is of course a voter intends to vote for her
when they take the time to physically WRITE HER NAME IN. Yet Murphy doesn’t think
this is necessarily true and that the votes are “illegal” Illegal votes implies
illegal voters. Those votes are not illegal.
