The events site for the San Diego Public Library lists a showing today:
2:00 PM - 3:55 PM: Film: Fahrenheit 9/11
“Fahrenheit 9/11″ (2004) - One of the most controversial and provacative [sic] films of the year, Academy Award-winning director Michael Moore’s searing examination of the Bush administration’s action in the wake of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. With characteristic humor and dogged commitment, Moore considers the presidency of George W. Bush and where it has led us. In the 3rd Floor Auditorium.
Location: Central Library
As of 12pm today, the Central Library is closed (and so not taking calls), but Voz Alta seems to be indicating that the screening is cancelled…
Voz Alta, in cooperation with the San Diego Independent Media Center,
will be screening Fahrenheit 9/11 at 2:30 at Voz Alta, 1544 Broadway. This is being done in response to Dick Murphy’s affront to free speech, in which he has told the public library what films can and cannot be shown.
What’s the story?
Fun fact: Nobody stopped Ralph Nader from speaking earlier this month.

DATE: October 29, 2004
TO: All Staff
FROM: Anna Tatár, Library Director
SUBJECT: Fahrenheit 9/11 Film Showing Re-scheduled
______________________________________________________________________________
A showing of the Michael Moore documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11” was scheduled to be shown on Sunday, October 31, 2004. Unfortunately, I was not aware that this film showing was scheduled so close to the upcoming election. The decision to reschedule “Fahrenheit 9/11” was made to avoid the appearance of influencing decisions regarding the upcoming election. As a result, I have asked that this film showing be re-scheduled to November 6 at 1 p.m. “Fahrenhype 9/11,” which refutes and debunks Moore’s assertions and features Fox News commentator Dick Morris, will also be shown as a contrasting piece. I made this decision after conferring with Library staff, the City Manager’s Office and the Chair of the Board of Library Commissioners.
The San Diego Public Library strongly supports ALA’s Freedom to View policy. We strive to provide the broadest access to film, video, and other audiovisual materials because they are a means for the communication of ideas. Our continuing goal is to provide film, video, and other audiovisual materials which represent a diversity of views and expression. To this end, we feel it is important that this documentary be shown and its views expressed. However, we must also be sensitive to our community and present programs which allow for a balance of views.

Library to Reschedule Screening of Documentary “Fahrenheit 9/11”
Also to be Screened will be “Fahrenhype 9/11”
SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Public Library has rescheduled the planned screening of the film “Fahrenheit 9/11,” a controversial documentary directed by Michael Moore. In addition, the Library will also show the documentary “Fahrenhype 9/11,” made as a rebuttle to Moore’s film.
The films will be shown back to back on Saturday, Nov. 6 beginning at 1 p.m. in the third floor auditorium of the Central Library, 820 E St. in downtown San Diego. The decision to reschedule “Fahrenheit 9/11” was made to avoid the appearance of influencing decisions regarding the upcoming election.
One of the most controversial and provocative films of the year, “Fahrenheit 9/11” is Moore’s searing examination of the Bush administration’s actions in the wake of the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.
In contrast, “Fahrenhype 9/11” refutes and debunks Moore’s assertions. The film was co-written and features Fox News commentator Dick Morris.

I’ve been meaning to see both of these, so I’m happy they’ll be playing in the same place one after the other. Should be an interesting crowd too (much more interesting than a crowd of people who just want to see one or the other).
Thanks for the memo postings, tallulahesque.
