Tristan Prettyman’s Blog

As San Diego CityBeat noted last week, local singer Tristan Prettyman recently signed a record deal with Virgin. Though she has yet to record her new album with them, Tristan is currently on tour with G. Love and Special Sauce and local boys, Slightly Stoopid.

And wouldn’t you know it, joining the ranks of former Rugburns frontman Steve Poltz, she’s got a blog. Here’s an excerpt from yesterday’s entry which was written in Cincinnati, Ohio:

its also weird for me to think about how i’m 22 and a female and out touring with g love and slightly stoopid, i mean i could be like ryan caberera and be touring with jessica simpson, or worse i could be opening for ashlee simpson, i can just imagine, she would ask, “tristan, how do you do it, every time, without a back up tape or anything, you do it live and real every time, and you write your own music, i just i…” i would say you know honey, i dont know….i dont know what it would be like to get caught lip syncing on national television, hell i dont know how you become famous when you can’t even sing real live..thats just wrong, this world is sad but that is the difference between poppy crap music and real musicians that make art, and i am happy to be apart of the more low key artistic side of things, i only hope that my new home at virgin will allow me to do and express what i do best, me.
