The online Gothic community, altgothic.com is currently voting on where to hold their annual meetup, Convergence 11. It’s currently between Tampa Bay and San Diego. The people pushing for San Diego have made am impressive pirate-themed site trying to sell the city to gothics around the world.

Although I’m not GOTH, I used to live in Tampa Bay and I’ve been to the Castle many times. In fact
I’ll be there this Halloween (Guavaween). It’s odd that San Diego used a pirate theme, since that
is core to the history of Tampa Bay. Tampa has pirates everywhere, from the football team to
an annual month long party called Gaspirilla, which includes a pirate invasion of the city.

The Tampa site made their site look high-tech and Matrix like. Considering San Diego is the wireless
capital, I think they got it backwards as well.

Yeah, to tell you the truth, Tampa Bay’s website might be more appealing, but I was still impressed with how much time the San Diego crew put into theirs.

Guavaween looks pretty sweet - have a good time.
