Every week since the original lineup was announced, I’ve been going back to the official Street Scene site looking for something. No offense to the artists already announced, but the reason I go to Street Scene each year is for the electronica and the drag queen karoke. It appears neither are coming.
Does anyone know if Street Scene’s move to go all ages on Friday and Saturday killed the Dragon House? I looked at the location map (moved again) and couldn’t see a spot for either the drag show or electronica.

It looks to me like the show is *seriously* abbreviated from previous years. 3 stages and 3 stages ONLY. That’s what I can glean from the site anyway. There are two email addresses I can see on the site – neither is really “ask a question” — there’s joe (at) street-scene.com and a frank (at) street-scene.com
Maybe try both? The date is coming up fast!
Maybe you could drop them a line

Thanks. I emailed them both as well as 2 of the drag queens. Once I get a reply, I’ll post back.

Tootie contacted me and confirmed that due to the
ALL AGES, Street Scene won’t be inviting back the Dragon House this year.
No drag queen or DJs. RIP Street Scene.

I think the new setup really sucks.
Some of my favorite Street Scene activities
- wandering the STREETS from stage to stage
- Zydeco stage
- the Cajun food (I wonder what surprises the SOUTHWEST AIRLINES TASTE section holds?!)
- hearing bands I’ve never heard of before
- people watching

Great comments on this thread. A lot of the spontaneous Things about SS don’t seem like they will be possible with the new setup, but I’ll give it a shot just to see if something New might just start.
If anyone is going, check out The Street Scene Weblog which includes a Moblog for anyone who goes to Street Scene to post camera phone pictures live to the Moblog: http://TheNewJazzThing.com/streetscene
