From Inigo Figuracion of about.com — about the San Diego Gay Pride Festival:

It’s become one of the largest gay pride celebrations on the West Coast. And not only that, the San Diego Gay Pride Celebration is embraced by the entire San Diego community. Want proof? The annual three-day celebration, taking place July 30, 31 and August 1, attracts over 100,000 people to Hillcrest, North Park, downtown and Balboa Park, both gay and straight. It’s nice to know we are, indeed, a tolerant community. Find out what’s scheduled for the San Diego Gay Pride Festival.

We couldn’t put it better ourselves. Check the official site at sdpride dot org!

This is late… but don’t forget the mayor, the police chief, and other prominent leaders (gay and otherwise) had active roles. It’s amazing that the police chief marched in the parade this year when only 30 years ago, in 1974, San Diego police and then-Mayor Pete Wilson refused to issue a permit to the marchers. (The ACLU threatened to sue, and they got their permit.) Two hundred people back then… and tens and tens of thousands now.

How is it the 2006 San Diego Gay Pride parade can have police vehicles along side a vehicle encouraging the use of crystal meth in the same parade?

So now we have San Diego police and officials endorsing the use of illegal substances?

In lieu of public indecency laws being violated, perhaps it’s time to revoke re-issuing future parade permits.

I have many gay and lesbian friends, also a cousin who is gay. They are all wonderful, law abiding citizens. None of them would ever consider attending one of these events, much less participating in them. They feel this public display of debauchery and perversion demeans all homosexuals. It’s denigrating to the normal people. They might be gay or lesbian, but they are not pedophiles, or S&M freaks.
