Granted, the Con is over, but I was looking over the receipt for my 4-day pass, and noticed this rule for the Con:
Videotaping, filming or recording of any kind (news and personal use are excluded) for commercial purposes must first have written approval of San Diego Comic-Con, Inc.
I had not realized there was a policy. Luckily my site artlung.com is personal, and san diego blog is news, so I can get away with it. But the Press rules are something I and other blogs may need for future Cons. Hey, there are webloggers covering the Democratic National Convention, why not cover a Comic Book convention?
Apropos of not much — I love the Mission Statement of the Con:
Comic-Con International is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of comics to art and culture.

Saw this today (link). I never realized such socially significant news was being released at Comic-Con.

I can’t believe I blanked on this - I took tons of photos and didn’t even remember to check what the policy was. However since I was taking lots of shots of toys that aren’t on the market yet - and I was next to other people doing the same thing - I just assumed the venders would tell us to stop if it wasn’t allowed.

Batgirl, for news or for personal use (blogging being one, I presume) — I think you’re okay. And really, with all the technology and stuff, I think these companies understand that they want people to be there to take cool pictures and spread the word later. It’s a promotional vehicle for them.

Jeber - true, there’s always news at Con of some kind or another. Check the other Con threads on the site for lots of other links out to the massive amount of reporting that happens around Con. Movies, videogames, comics, culture. Always lots of news.
