Zoinks! $667 a night in Mission Valley? Ouch!

These room rates, which can be found on Expedia.com and other online travel booking services, are not typos. They are the result of a Super Bowl-like demand for lodging thanks to the Comic-Con convention, the Acura Tennis Classic and the opening weekend at the Del Mar Race Track all happening at once.

“The demand is off the charts,” said Robert Rauch, director of the Center for Hospitality and Tourism Research at San Diego State University. “It’s like the triple witching hour on Wall Street.”
