It has an extensive mythology around it. It's as much a world unto itself as <a href="http://www.well.com/">The Well</a>, <a href="http://www.slashdot.org/">Slashdot</a>, <a href="http://www.metafilter.com">MetaFilter</a>. Wikipedia does a pretty good job of explaining it: <blockquote> Fark.com is a popular community website allowing users to comment on a daily batch of news articles and notable websites, which it classifies as "Stupid," "Interesting," "Obvious," "Strange," "Spiffy," and so on.
