Sorry I missed it, but the pro-troop/pro-war/pro-occupation duo of Lt. Smash and Da Goddess were on the Roger Hedgecock radio show. I believe they were talking about the Protest Warrior chapter they’re starting. They’re entertaining writers, but I get the feeling that they don’t fathom how people can object to our conduct in Iraq.

Entertaining writer? Entertaining as in “doesn’t agree with me so can’t possibly have a point?”
Joe,
Thanks for the link.
If you’re wondering what could motivate a guy like me to “take to the streets” in order to counter-protest some nice, harmless peace-activists, you might want to take a gander at the remarks made by one of the keynote speakers at a March 20 rally sponsored by the SDCPJ:
Since that day, I’ve seen so-called “peace demonstrators” advocating MUTINY within the military, includeing the “fragging” of officers, and even witnessed one man calling for a “socialist revolution.” And I don’t think he was speaking metaphorically.
I’m fighting extremism on the steets of San Diego, and you don’t like it because it happens to be coming from the Left.
I’ll tell you what: I’m a fair-minded guy — the next time Fred Phelps or the KKK comes to town, why don’t you come out and join us in counter-protesting? Come on, it’ll be fun!
Joanie — By “entertaining writer” I mean “entertaining writer.”
I did not say you “can’t possibly have a point” — are you claiming that’s what I said?
I agree that I don’t agree with you, in the main. I’ve said as much in email. But I definitely read you, and follow your adventures. You’re a compelling writer. Maybe you’re influencing my thoughts. Would you prefer I have no opinion about you and never linked to you? I prefer a world where I read people who disagree with me, and articulate thoughts and ideas other that my own. That’s America to me.
I know plenty of people who listen to a Howard Stern or a Rush Limbaugh not out of agreement, but for entertainment. It’s not an insult to call you entertaining, Joanie, despite how you think I meant it. Don’t read my mind, please.
SMASH — it’s true, I don’t like the way you trivialize those who would protest the war out of conscience. I’m certainly not going to disagree with you with those who have notions about socialism or communism or fragging — they’re nitwits. They have a right to protest, but they’re nitwits. I’m frustrated by the fact that what seems to happen is ALL those who protest Iraqi occupation are characterized as nuts by you and Joanie.
There are people who think the way we’re prosecuting the Iraqi occupation is wrong — people who you would not feel the need to insult, perhaps General A. Zinni.
Congrats to Lt. Smash and Da Goddess.
Since I got XM Radio, I haven’t listened to Roger’s show, so I’m sorry I missed it.
I’ll have to listen to the arhives.

Joe, I appreciate that you read me and everyone else…and that you’re willing to engage in discussion. That’s what’s really missing from so many of the “peace” groups.
MAS, thank you. It’s been an interesting trip, getting to where I am now. I love meeting new people and hearing what they have to say, yet can’t help but shake my head when I hear what they’re advocating.
