Josiah Q. Roe and I have exchanged email a few times since I started chronicling San Diego Blogs over at San Diego Bloggers dot com. Josiah runs a free service called San Diego Blogs.

He says he started sandiegoblogs.com “’cause I used to live in California and all my inlaws are in California.”

Here’s more information about the service and his goals for the service:

San Diego Blogs is a free blogging service for folks living in and around San Diego, California. No ads, no popups, no gimmicks. Just free blogs for the San Diego community.

The site hasn’t been around very long, more or less, so its only got like, 5 blogs: adenine, erik, nothingworks, carrie, jeff.

My hope is that it’ll grow to be like some of the other blogging sites, and become a real community “voice” with earnest discussion among the various members.

A good example of the power of community centered blogs is this whole thing going on in Chattanooga Tennessee with its local public radio station. Station managers and University of Chattanooga uppity-ups decided to make it a more corporate radio station, with lots of easy listening jazz. Via chattablogs, a local news weekly, and a few other sources folks got whipped into a fairly impressive frenzy to help save their radio station.

That’s the sorta thing I’d love to see sandiegoblogs.com grow into.

Friends, this is a very good thing indeed. I’m impressed and I hope that I can contribute in some small way. Would linking help? Word of mouth? Dancing monkeys? A vigorous shake of the Magic 8 Ball?

I’d love to see a more vibrant San Diego online community take shape, so I’d be happy to help.

    Your pal,

    bob

Cool beans Bob — feel free to holler at JosiahQ via his website and volunteer what you can. :-)

And hey, what ideas do you have? What I’m wondering is how can SanDiegoBlog help that goal — of an online San Diego community — come true?

Hey Bob (and Joe) thanks for all your feedback.

There’s a couple of things we could do to get things going on sandiegoblogs.com,

the first is that people who already have blogs on blogger or other blogging services can transfer their blogs OVER to SanDiegoblogs. I’ve done it a million times, and you get to keep everything.

the second is that if anybody out there is a graphic designer, I’d love to see a new, fresh look for sandiegoblogs.com I don’t make any money of sandiegoblogs (or chattablogs), so I don’t have any $$ to pay a designer to put together a new look and feel, so if anyone out there is a graphic designer and is interested in helping, that would rule!
