As a non CA native, I was shocked by the landscaping when I moved here. SD is a desert, yet people wanted full lush lawns and water hungry tropical plants. The water garden is a great place, hopefully people will take advantage of the ideas there and reduce the waste (water & fertilizer) that currently happens. Palms, cacti, purple African grasses, rosemary hedges, who would want to mow a lawn?
