Metroblogging

So metroblogging dot com sets its sights on blogging local cities. They’re currently blogging Chicago , Los Angeles, New York City, and San francisco and say they’ll soon be blogging Atlanta, Boston, Washington DC, Miami , Orange County , Seattle, Dublin, London, Tokyo , and Toronto.

Notably absent is San Diego, which I wonder aloud, are they not targeting San Diego because we’re (and when I say “we” I mean San Diego Blog) already covering San Diego?

Fascinating, anyway. Reminds me very much of the Weblogs Inc and Nick Denton’s Gawker Media.

Nope, we just haven’t gotten there yet. We’d like to have a cite in every city but finding 10-20 authors for a city doesn’t happen overnight so we’re working on a smaller list, when we get those covered we’ll move on to something else. I think we’re trying to do something a little different that San Diego Blog and don’t really see any reason we shouldn’t be able to play nice with each other =)

Thanks for dropping in Sean. I appreciate the reply - straight from the horse’s mouth. I think San Diego Blog *is* trying to do the same - multi-author blogging about a metro area. That said, we’re really working on expanding our coverage to be a robust source of information for San Diego - being a good value proposition for people in terms of their attention.

Okay, I’m rambling now. Anyway, thanks for checking us out Sean!

Exactly! That’s NOT what we’re doing. This will all make more sense in a while. =)

You’re not missing out - the London one’s utterly dreadful (do a “London Metblogs”) search on Google and see for yourself.)
