    That’s really a gorgeous photo. That’s a native species? Any idea what species it is?

    Thank you. I took that photo with a borrowed Nikon Coolpix 5700 5 megapixel on macro setting. The cactus originally was a gift in a pot that I transplanted last year. Here is what it looks like zoomed out:

    I got a reply about what kind of cactus these pictures are of: What’s there is a fine specimen of Notocactus leninghausii - nice plant.

    Echinocactus Leninghausii - Golden Ball - Cactus

    The Golden Ball is another favourite. It beautiful colouration coupled with is soft spines makes this a very grand stand alone plant. It will tolerate harsh treatment. It prefers to be kept in bright filtered light, especially at a younger age.
