I went and saw the USS Intrepid with my father and Grandfather (my Grandfather having served aboard the Intrepid as a CPO and a navigator during WWII — he was career Navy). I loved that he was taught to navigate using a Sextant and looking at the stars to do celestial navigation.

I find it funny that when asked about going to visit a museum like this, my Grandfather’s typical answer is something like “I already spent enough time on ships — the Navy still owes me overtime!”
