via Empty Peak Encinitas to put up Monument at Swami’s
Taylor —- a surfer and writer who successfully lobbied to change the name of Seacliff Roadside Park to Swami’s Beach Park —- died suddenly last September of a heart attack.
His widow, Marlene Taylor, said after the meeting that surfers have demanded a monument recognizing the memory of Taylor and the value of Swami’s as a surfing spot.
“He was that important to the surfing community,” Marlene Taylor said.
Last September, a paddle-out ceremony in Taylor’s honor drew more than 500 people to Swami’s.
