On my car ride home from Lindbergh Field last night, I noticed that the dreaded red-light camera had been reinstalled at 10th and A. It was about 9 p.m. and as I was approaching the intersection, I noticed the light had turned yellow. I stopped, the car on my left stopped. We were good, respectful, law-abiding citizens.
Or so we thought.
The light turned green, so we both hit the gas… then we saw a flash go off. Then another. What??? Had we both been faux-red light runners? Would I soon receive a grainy black and white photo (and a pricey traffic ticket) reminding me of the dubious event? What is going on? Aren’t these cameras supposed to work? Were the cameras’ critics on to something after all?
