San Diego: The City that Always Sleeps

After almost 7 years in San Diego, I have reached the following conclusions (AKA gross generalizations):

  • Most San Diegans are barely employed part-time, are students, or live in a one-room shack.
  • 90% of the cars on my block are still there at 9:05 AM on a weekday.
  • Executives and mucky-mucks rarely work past 3PM on Fridays. (Witness the eastbound 94 mass exodus from downtown)
  • Lots of businesses open at 11AM on Saturday and Sundays because everyone is asleep.
  • Supermarkets and Laundromats are completely packed on Sunday nights ’cause everyone got stoned and forgot to buy food or do laundry.

What is a mucky-muck? and why would anybody who does not have to work past 3:PM on fryday do so unless they don’t like to be at home.

I read that, laughed, and then realized that it’s 10:00am on a Tuesday and I’m sitting at home in my robe, having my first cup of coffee, reading your site. Doh!
