Moving to SD - Seeing SD through fresh eyes.

My long-time friend and way-back-when colleague Brent Ross is about to move to San Diego to join forces with the wonder twins, aquaman and the cast from Revenge of the Nerds at Red Door Interactive. He’s a guy with impeccable taste, which explains why he’s a great designer, and thusly, the mitigating factor behind his move hereabouts.

The first people I’ll introduce him to, besides the usual (girlfriend, colleagues), are the Pokez lunch crew. He has to see Pokez, for one. And for two, the lunch crew is a group of guys who have probably been on a skateboard and enjoyed it at least once in their burrito-eating lives. And if they haven’t then they’ve wondered aloud why folks in general aren’t more supportive of rolling youth sports (besides destruction of property and all). Anyway, the indoor graffiti is worth it even without those cats.

After that we’ll mosey on over to UnUn (short for Universally Universall, and pronounced “yoon yoon” because of it). Barry Kelman, the owner, is a killer guy who plays in a band called American Luxury and is the bouncer on Monday nights at the Turf Club. I popped by a month or so ago to give him a bootleg of the new radiohead, he wasn’t there, but the people in his place always seem to be just as laid back.

Then, yes, if they’re still around, the USD law brigade, our Sunday Soccer cadre, and the 3oners in town. More on them at eleven.
